Yellow alert status on Visayas grid lifted

The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) announced that it lifted the yellow alert status for the Visayas grid at 1 p.m. today.

In its initial advisory, the NGCP had planned to implement the alert from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

According to the grid operator, nine power plants have been on forced outage from April to November 2024; two have remained unused since 2023; while 18 others are operating with derated capacities.

A yellow alert indicates that the operating margin is insufficient.

Meanwhile, the Luzon and Mindanao grids remain in normal condition.
