Taxi driver seen clinging to PUJ before falling, both drivers face suspension

A road altercation in Davao City went viral after a video showed a taxi driver clinging to a moving public utility jeepney (PUJ) before losing his grip and falling onto the road. Authorities took several hours to identify and locate both drivers as they did not immediately report the incident.

The incident happened around 3:00 PM on March 7, 2025, along MacArthur Highway. According to the investigation, the PUJ, driven by Matronillo Campo Lee, 55, and the taxi, driven by Antonio Erosibo Quinanola, 58, had been aggressively maneuvering through traffic near Matina Crossing.

As tensions escalated, the taxi driver confronted the PUJ driver. During the heated exchange, the PUJ suddenly reversed and then moved forward, causing its passenger, Carlos Rafael M. Domingo, 20, to fall onto the pavement. Quinanola, the taxi driver, attempted to intervene and grabbed onto the PUJ, but the vehicle continued moving, and he eventually lost his grip and fell onto the center island.
