President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. warned that the government’s operations could be paralyzed if the Supreme Court rules against the 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA) following a petition filed by several individuals.
In an ambush interview in Mactan, Cebu, Marcos claimed that those opposing the budget may be pushing for destabilization efforts against his administration.
The petition for certiorari and prohibition was recently filed by Representative Isidro Ungab and Atty. Vic Rodriguez, questioning alleged blank items in the bicameral report of the 2025 national budget.
The President has left the matter to the Solicitor General, but he shared that SolGen Menardo Guevarra assured him that the government has a strong legal position on the constitutionality of the budget.
