A mall worker in Davao City was stabbed after a game of rock-paper-scissors escalated into violence on J.P. Laurel Avenue. The victim, identified by the alias Novie, a merchandiser, was playing the game with coworkers, including the girlfriend of the suspect, known as Alvin, a bagger at the same mall.
Reports indicate that Novie won the game and playfully flicked the forehead of Alvin’s girlfriend, sparking anger in the suspect. Prior to the stabbing, Alvin had threatened Novie in a chat message, warning, “ATNGAN TIKA SA INYONG TRABAHON-AN HA! ISTORYAHON TIKA!” (I’ll confront you at your workplace! We’ll talk!).
The confrontation turned violent when Alvin allegedly stabbed Novie in the shoulder. The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment, while Alvin surrendered to the Bajada Police Station and remains in custody.
Authorities are investigating the incident, which has raised concerns about workplace conflicts and violence. The case highlights the dangers of disputes escalating into physical harm, even over seemingly trivial matters.
