A recent OCTA Research survey found that 78% of Filipinos believe Vice President Sara Duterte should face an impeachment trial in the Senate to answer allegations against her.
The Tugon ng Masa survey was conducted from April 20 to 24, involving 1,200 respondents aged 18 and above. The survey has a ±3% margin of error at a 95% confidence level.
The results show strong public support for accountability and due process, despite delays in the impeachment proceedings, which were originally set to begin on June 2.
According to OCTA, the survey reflects a significant sentiment among Filipinos that high-ranking officials should respond to serious accusations through legal and institutional processes.
The Senate has yet to announce a new schedule for the impeachment trial, which remains pending. The specific charges against Duterte were not mentioned in the survey results.
Public opinion appears to favor moving forward with the proceedings to allow clarity and resolution on the matter.
Vice President Duterte has not issued a public response following the release of the survey results.
