A 58-year-old man tragically drowned at a beach in Barangay Daliao, Toril, Davao City, after ignoring family warnings not to swim while intoxicated.
The victim, identified only as “Piddy,” was a resident of Calinan, Davao City. According to his nephew, Effraem, the man left their beach cottage to swim despite being cautioned about the risks due to his inebriated state.
Effraem revealed that family members pleaded with Piddy not to enter the water but to no avail. Shortly after entering the sea, he struggled to stay afloat and was quickly overwhelmed.
Rescuers from the Eagles Response Team attempted to revive him at the scene and rushed him to the nearest hospital. Sadly, the attending doctor declared him dead on arrival.
