At least four people have been killed and 22 others injured after Typhoon Dujuan unleashed torrential rain and powerful winds across eastern Japan.
The storm triggered landslides and flooding in areas near Tokyo, with three deaths recorded in Chiba Prefecture and another in neighboring Kanagawa.
Six people were also reported missing as rescue teams continued searching areas hit by landslides.
In Yokosuka, Kanagawa, a woman in her 60s was killed after mud swept into her home.
Authorities also reported multiple landslides in nearby communities.
Dujuan has since moved away from Japan and into the Pacific, prompting authorities to lift or downgrade several heavy rain and landslide warnings.
However, officials continued to caution residents as saturated ground remained vulnerable to further landslides.
More than 45,000 households in Chiba were still without electricity, while over 460 homes were damaged.
Dujuan also forced the early closure of the Tokyo Game Show and disrupted several events connected to the ongoing Asian Games in Japan.
Oshima, however, recorded 832 millimeters of rain in just 48 hours, while Tokyo’s Edogawa Ward registered a record 282.5 millimeters in 24 hours.
Although Dujuan has continued to weaken, persistent rainfall is still affecting parts of the Tokyo area.
