A 56-year-old man was killed in a self-accident early Thursday after his motorcycle collided with road railings in Barangay Alambre, Toril, Davao City.
Authorities identified the victim as Nolasco Lastimosa, a resident of Purok 2, Alambre, Toril, Davao City.
The incident occurred around 2:18 a.m. while the vehicle was traveling from Barangay Lubogan toward Barangay Camansi. According to initial investigations by the Davao City Police Office-Traffic Enforcement Unit (DCPO-TEU), Lastimosa lost control of the handle grip after hitting road railings at Purok 3.
The collision caused him to fall onto the pavement, sustaining severe injuries. Responding paramedics from Central 911 found him without a pulse. He was declared dead by Dr. Radam.
The fatal crash highlights the dangers of late-night driving on poorly lit roads and raises questions about the adequacy of safety measures in the area.
Police have recorded the incident as a case of reckless driving resulting in homicide and property damage. Investigators reminded motorists to exercise caution, especially on unfamiliar or dark roads.
