A 17-year-old girl died after she was allegedly beaten with a pipe by her own father on Tuesday morning in Barangay Rizal, Sagay City, Negros Occidental.
The victim was identified by police through the alias “Princess.” The suspect was her father, identified by the alias “Joe,” a 41-year-old tricycle driver.
The incident occurred at around 9 a.m. on March 9, according to initial information released by the Sagay City Police Station.
Investigators said relatives of the victim heard her screaming inside the house, prompting them to seek help from authorities.
Police officers who responded to the scene found the victim inside her room with blood on her body.
Authorities immediately arrested the suspect following the incident.
In an interview with Brigada News FM Bacolod, Police Lt. Col. Alvimar Flores, chief of the Sagay City Police, said the suspect claimed that the victim had been disobedient.
According to Flores, the suspect said he had repeatedly warned the girl before the incident.
Police also learned during the investigation that the suspect and the victim’s mother had been separated since the girl was still young.
The victim’s mother is currently working in Cebu.
Authorities said the suspect is now under police custody.
A parricide case is being prepared against the suspect in connection with the death of his daughter.
Police continue to gather additional details as part of their investigation into the incident.
The case has drawn attention after the fatal incident involving a minor and a family member.
