Grade 10 student found dead inside Taguig school covered court

A 16-year-old Grade 10 student was found dead on March 9 inside a public school in Taguig City, authorities said.

According to a police report, the student was discovered at the covered court of a school located in Barangay South Signal.

Personnel from the Taguig Police Sub-station 6 immediately responded to the incident after it was reported.

Following the incident, the Taguig City government expressed deep sadness over the death of the student.

In a statement, the local government extended its condolences to the family, friends, classmates, and the entire school community affected by the incident.

City officials also assured the public that assistance and support would be provided to those left behind.

The Department of Education (DepEd) also released a statement expressing sympathy to the bereaved family and the school community.

DepEd said its mental health crisis response team had been mobilized to provide support to students, teachers, and school personnel.

Several DepEd officials also personally visited the school to ensure that immediate assistance would be given to the school community.

Meanwhile, the Schools Division of Taguig City and Pateros said it is continuing to coordinate with the local government and the DepEd Central Office.

The coordination aims to implement intervention programs, including psychological first aid, for students, teachers, and non-teaching personnel in the school.

Education officials said the programs are intended to help members of the school community cope with the impact of the incident.

DepEd also urged the public to respect the privacy of the family and the school community while support efforts continue.

Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.
