A 32-year-old police patrolman was killed after his motorcycle collided with an oncoming truck in Taytay Candaguit, Barangay Baliwagan, San Enrique, Negros Occidental on Thursday, April 10.
The incident occurred shortly after 5 p.m., according to an initial police report.
The victim, a resident of Sitio Duran, Barangay San Isidro in Pontevedra, was assigned to Bacolod City Police Station 9. Authorities confirmed his identity but withheld his name pending notification of family.
Based on the preliminary investigation, the patrolman reportedly overshot a curved section of the road while driving his motorcycle, causing him to crash head-on into a truck.
The truck was driven by a 44-year-old man identified only as Reymar.
The motorcycle rider was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Meanwhile, Reymar is currently under the custody of the San Enrique Municipal Police Station as part of the ongoing investigation.
Police have not released further details about whether charges will be filed. The crash has sparked concern among local residents about road safety, especially along the curved areas of Taytay Candaguit.
