Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday filed a perjury complaint against Ramil Madriaga at the Taguig City Prosecutor’s Office.
Madriaga had previously linked Duterte to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) and alleged drug lords.
The vice president personally went to the prosecutor’s office to submit the complaint, which centers on statements she described as false allegations against her.
Duterte was accompanied by her legal counsel, Atty. Salvador Paolo Panelo Jr., and five witnesses.
Among those present were former Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group commander Col. Raymund Lachica, former VPSPG Deputy Group Commander Lt. Col. Dennis Nolasco, former Office of the Vice President spokesperson Atty. Reynold Munsayac, and two former Presidential Security Group commanders.
According to the complaint affidavit, Duterte and Madriaga do not know each other and have no personal relationship.
The complaint also stated that Madriaga’s allegations were untrue, including claims he made regarding his supposed roles in the Presidential Security Group, the Vice Presidential Security and Protection Group, the Department of Education, and the Office of the Vice President.
Panelo said their camp is confident that the evidence submitted is more than sufficient for prosecutors to find probable cause.
He added that the documents and testimonies they presented could establish a reasonable certainty of conviction.
Madriaga is currently detained at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City in connection with a kidnapping case.
