Typhoon Nika, internationally known as Toraji, made landfall on Monday morning in the vicinity of Dilasag, Aurora, as confirmed by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration. The storm hit at approximately 8:10 AM, based on data from Baler Weather Radar, marking the latest development in the storm’s path.
In its 8:00 AM bulletin, PAGASA raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 over several areas in Luzon, indicating very strong winds with widespread damage potential. The areas under TCWS No. 4 include parts of the provinces most at risk from Nika’s intense winds and heavy rainfall.
The typhoon, which intensified as it approached the Philippines, has been causing significant weather disturbances, with strong winds and heavy rainfall expected to affect central and northern Luzon. Authorities have warned of possible flash floods, landslides, and storm surges in coastal areas, urging residents to stay vigilant and follow evacuation orders when necessary.
The storm is moving quickly and is expected to bring widespread effects to nearby regions. PAGASA continues to monitor the storm’s progress and has advised the public to remain updated through official weather reports. The agency also recommended that local governments prepare for the ongoing threat, especially in areas already under the highest-level warnings.
As Typhoon Nika continues its track across the region, authorities are on high alert, urging communities to take precautions and stay safe in the face of the storm’s severe weather.
