Typhoon Ada causes ₱1.39M agricultural damage in Naga City

Agricultural damage caused by Typhoon Ada in Naga City has reached more than ₱1.3 million, based on data released by the City Agriculture Office.

According to the report, total losses to agricultural production amounted to exactly ₱1,397,149 after assessments were completed among affected farmers in the city. The figures were based on consolidated reports submitted by 153 farmers whose crops were damaged by the storm.

In a document sent to Brigada News FM Naga, Acting City Agriculturist Ernest Asence III said corn plantations suffered the most severe damage. Corn losses covered 105 hectares with an estimated value of ₱787,500.

Rice fields were also heavily affected, with damage recorded across 83 hectares valued at ₱240,444. High-value crops sustained losses amounting to ₱369,205, although the affected area covered just over one hectare.

In total, agricultural land damaged by Typhoon Ada reached 189 hectares across various crop types in Naga City, according to the City Agriculture Office.

Officials said 153 farmers were affected by the storm’s impact on agricultural production. To help them recover, the city government, through the agriculture office, plans to provide assistance in the form of free seeds and fertilizer.

The City Agriculture Office said the distribution of agricultural inputs aims to help farmers resume planting and mitigate the effects of the losses caused by Typhoon Ada.

The report did not indicate any damage to livestock or fisheries, focusing solely on crop losses recorded after the storm.

Typhoon Ada affected several parts of the region, with local authorities continuing post-disaster assessments and recovery efforts in affected communities.
