Two riders killed in head-on collision in Cebu City

Two motorcycle riders died after a head-on collision at S. Osmeña Boulevard, Barangay Tejero, in the North Reclamation Area, Cebu City early Friday, June 6.

The victims were identified as alias “Vin,” 35, and alias “Bugs,” 18. Both were residents of Talisay City, Cebu.

According to CCTV footage, Bugs was speeding before the crash. Vin, on the other hand, made a left turn at the intersection, leading to the collision.

The impact threw both riders off their motorcycles, which were heavily damaged.

Bugs was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Vin was transferred to another medical facility but later died.

Initial investigation from the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office showed both riders were at fault.

Police said Vin violated Section 44 of Republic Act 4136, while Bugs was overspeeding, a violation of Section 35 of the same law.

Authorities remind motorists to observe traffic rules to avoid similar tragedies.
