Two public school teachers were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Agusan del Sur within a week, authorities said.
The latest arrest took place on Feb. 24, 2026, in Purok 5, Barangay Patin-ay, Prosperidad. The operation was conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Regional Office 13 – Agusan del Sur Provincial Office in coordination with the Prosperidad Municipal Police Station.
Authorities identified the suspect as a public school teacher tagged as a high-value target. Recovered during the operation was one heat-sealed sachet containing suspected shabu valued at ₱2,000 based on standard drug pricing.
Also seized were the marked buy-bust money, a black Android phone and a Professional Regulation Commission identification card.
PDEA 13 said the arrest has a significant impact on the community, noting that the suspect works as a teacher and may influence students.
A day earlier, on Feb. 23, 2026, at about 8:01 a.m., another public school teacher was arrested in a separate buy-bust operation in a barangay in Loreto, also in Agusan del Sur.
Authorities said the second suspect was apprehended for a similar offense involving illegal drugs. Further details about the seized items in the Loreto operation were not immediately released.
Both suspects are now in custody and will face charges under Section 5, Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities said anti-drug operations in the province will continue in coordination with local police units.
