Tesla Philippines unveiled its latest Model Y Launch Series at the EDSA Shangri-La Mall on February 26, marking a significant step in its local market expansion. Available for preorder since January, the Model Y promises to arrive by April 2025. Prices for the electric SUV start at P2,369,000 for the base rear-wheel-drive (RWD) version and go up to P2,689,000 for the long-range all-wheel-drive (AWD) variant.
During the event, Tesla Philippines also announced its plans to open a new Supercharger station at EDSA Shangri-La. This will be the second Supercharger location in the country, following the first one at Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City (BGC). The new station aims to enhance the charging experience for Tesla owners, ensuring more convenient access to fast-charging options.
Boosting Charging Convenience
The upcoming Supercharger at EDSA Shangri-La will feature four charging ports, similar to the ones at the BGC location. It will operate at a fixed rate of P19 per kW, translating to about P1,140 to fully charge a Tesla Model 3. Construction is expected to begin soon, although Tesla Philippines has not disclosed an exact launch date.
The strategic expansion of Tesla’s charging network reflects the company’s commitment to making electric vehicle (EV) ownership more practical and convenient in the Philippines. By establishing Supercharger stations in key urban areas, Tesla aims to eliminate range anxiety for its customers, encouraging more drivers to switch to sustainable mobility solutions.
Exclusive Perks for New Buyers
To further entice potential customers, Tesla Philippines is offering free wall connectors for home charging to all new Model Y buyers. This incentive is designed to provide greater flexibility and ease of charging at home, complementing the public Supercharger network.
The first official Tesla unit in the Philippines was delivered on January 23, setting the stage for more orders in the coming weeks. With the Model Y’s anticipated arrival in April, Tesla expects a surge in demand, fueled by growing interest in EVs nationwide.
Growing EV Market in the Philippines
Tesla’s expansion is aligned with the Philippines’ increasing push toward electric vehicle adoption. As the government continues to encourage green technology and sustainable transport solutions, Tesla’s strategic growth could play a crucial role in shaping the local EV landscape.
The addition of the EDSA Shangri-La Supercharger not only enhances Tesla’s presence but also supports the broader EV infrastructure development in the country. With more charging stations on the horizon, the American carmaker is poised to lead the EV market in the Philippines.
Looking Ahead
As Tesla Philippines continues its growth trajectory, the company remains focused on expanding its charging network to accommodate the rising number of EVs. The EDSA Shangri-La Supercharger is just one step in this direction, with more stations likely to follow in other key cities.
The launch of the Model Y and the strategic rollout of Superchargers underscore Tesla’s commitment to providing sustainable and innovative transportation solutions. With increasing consumer interest and government support, Tesla is well-positioned to revolutionize the Philippine automotive industry.
Tesla enthusiasts and potential buyers can look forward to experiencing the convenience of rapid charging at EDSA Shangri-La while exploring the latest in electric vehicle technology with the Model Y.
