Teen driver falls asleep, rams 9 vehicles in Cebu gas station

A 19-year-old SUV driver allegedly fell asleep and crashed into nine parked vehicles, including two motorcycles, at a non-operational gasoline station in Barangay Mambaling on Sunday morning, April 20.

The incident occurred around 6:00 a.m. at a former gas station along F. Vestil Street, which has since been repurposed as a parking area. The SUV, driven by a teenager identified only as Angelo from Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City, barreled into the parked vehicles under unclear circumstances.

According to the Cebu City Police Office’s Traffic Enforcement Unit, initial investigation indicates that the driver may have fallen asleep behind the wheel. The force of the crash caused significant damage to the parked vehicles, some of which were heavily dented or pushed out of alignment.

One woman sustained injuries during the incident, though the police did not provide further details on her condition.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to determine possible charges or further action against the driver. They are also verifying if the area was properly marked as a parking space and looking into the exact cause of the accident.
