Senator Raffy Tulfo pushes for total deployment ban to Kuwait after OFW deaths

Senator Raffy Tulfo, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Migrant Workers, has called for a total deployment ban of Filipino migrant workers to Kuwait following reports of Overseas Filipino worker (OFW) deaths, including the tragic case of Dafnie Nacalaban.

Tulfo urged the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to temporarily halt sending new OFWs to the Gulf nation to ensure their safety.

To prevent further incidents, the senator proposed mandatory neuropsychological screening for prospective employers in Kuwait. According to Tulfo, this step would help guarantee that employers are mentally stable and capable of providing safe working conditions.

Tulfo clarified that the ban would only affect new applicants. Current OFWs in Kuwait can continue working or renew their contracts without restrictions.
