Senator Marcos pushes PRRD bill in Senate

Senator Imee Marcos, in an interview held in The Hague, Netherlands, announced the filing of Senate Bill No. 552, also known as the “PRRD Bill,” which seeks to criminalize what she called the illegal rendition of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to another country.

Hindi na dapat maulit ito, ang nangyari kay Presidente (Duterte) na kinidnap siya at dinala dito sa ibang bansa,” Marcos said during the interview. She described the act as a violation of Philippine law.

The senator explained that the bill aims to punish those involved in any form of forced transfer or extraordinary rendition of Filipino citizens, especially public officials. “Ito ang nagpaparusa at ginagawang krimen ang extraordinary rendition,” she added.

Marcos also revealed she had already filed a related case before the Office of the Ombudsman. “May Ombudsman case na naka-tengga, ‘yun nga lang naghihintay ako. Sana tapusin kasi magbabago na ang Ombudsman. Kinakabahan ako baka hindi na dinggin. Gano’n pa man, dapat dalhin natin ‘yung kaso at pursigihin natin para managot ang talagang nag-utos nitong kababalaghan,” she said.
