Senate panel cites PH special envoy in contempt

The Senate Committee on Foreign Relations has cited Special Envoy on Transnational Crime Ambassador Markus Lacanilao in contempt.

Lawmakers were displeased with Lacanilao’s repeated claims of not knowing whether Former President Rodrigo Duterte was brought before a local court before the alleged International Criminal Court (ICC) arrest.”

Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa moved to cite Lacanilao in contempt after the senators doubted his replies to their questions.

Committee Chairperson Senator Imee Marcos promptly approved the motion to cite Lacanilao in contempt.

The senators also questioned the Transfer of the Custody document showing Lacanilao representing the government of the Philippines when he verbally said he represented the International Police Organization (Interpol).

The senators found Lacanilao’s statement ” very misleading” which made them decide to have him cited in contempt.
