Sen. Robin Padilla apologizes for Duterte’s ‘kill’ remarks

Senator Robin Padilla has publicly apologized for the “kill” remarks made by former President Rodrigo Duterte during a recent proclamation rally. The comment, made in jest, suggested that the only way for Duterte’s supported senatorial candidates to win was by eliminating 15 senators.

Padilla, also the president of PDP-Laban, explained that Duterte’s statement was intended as a joke and not to incite violence. He added that the former president is willing to face any legal repercussions should his words be interpreted differently.

As someone close to Duterte, Padilla defended the former president’s character, describing him as non-violent, kind, and religious outside of his political persona. Despite the lighthearted nature of the comment, it has sparked public concern, prompting the senator’s apology to those who were offended by the remarks.
