Sen. Padilla to file resolution to junk VP Sara’s impeachment case

Senator Robin Padilla confirmed he plans to file a resolution seeking the dismissal of the impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte.

In an ambush interview, Padilla said he would author the resolution himself. His primary reason, he explained, is to show his support for the Duterte family.

Padilla clarified that his version of the resolution is different from the initial draft mentioned by Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa. He added that several senators have yet to read the document.

The senator also emphasized that Vice President Duterte had no involvement in the preparation or push for the resolution.

Earlier, Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino said that if there is any dismissal of the impeachment trial, it should only be considered by June 30.

Meanwhile, Senate Minority Leader Koko Pimentel warned his fellow senators to carefully consider their decision on the matter. He stressed that senators might face embarrassment if the issue reaches the Supreme Court and their decision is overturned.

The impeachment proceedings against the vice president remain a controversial topic in the Senate, with members taking different positions on whether the trial should continue or be dismissed.
