A school principal was arrested inside a suspected drug den during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Central, Mati City, Davao Oriental on March 2, 2026.
The operation was carried out at about 4:45 p.m. by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Davao Oriental Provincial Office.
Authorities identified the arrested principal as alias Jay, a resident of Lupon, Davao Oriental. Officials did not disclose the school where he is assigned.
Also arrested was alias Nene, who was identified as the alleged maintainer of the drug den and the person who sold illegal drugs to an undercover operative during the buy-bust. Another individual, alias John, was also apprehended during the operation.
Seized from the suspects were about five grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P50,000. Authorities also recovered drug paraphernalia from the scene.
The three suspects are currently detained and facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
No other details were immediately released as authorities continue their investigation.
