The Department of Transportation (DOTr) announced planned fee reductions for airports and roll-on/roll-off (RORO) vessels amid the ongoing oil crisis.
In a press conference, Transport Secretary Giovanni Lopez said there is a proposal to significantly lower RORO terminal fees.
From the current P516, the fee is targeted to be reduced to just P1 for Class 3 and Class 4 vehicles.
The move, initiated by the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), aims to ease transportation costs and support the movement of goods.
Lopez said the reduction could take effect on or before April 15, once approved by the board.
Meanwhile, airport terminal fees may also be reduced by up to P200 per passenger.
Airlines are also expected to benefit from the measure, as discounts on take-off and landing fees are being considered.
