A 27-year-old motorcycle rider died after his vehicle collided with a tricycle along the national highway in Barangay Malapad, Real, Quezon Sunday.
Investigators said the rider traveled along the highway around 12:21 in the afternoon before he suddenly entered the opposite lane.
The rider then struck the right side of a tricycle driven by a delivery rider, causing a strong impact.
Authorities reported that the motorcycle rider allegedly drove at high speed, which may have contributed to the cause of the collision.
Responders rushed the injured rider to the nearest hospital, but attending medical personnel declared him dead on arrival.
The tricycle driver survived the incident and did not sustain any injuries despite the severity of the crash.
Both the motorcycle and tricycle sustained visible damage, although authorities have not yet determined the total cost of repairs.
Police conducted an investigation to establish the sequence of events and confirm the circumstances surrounding the fatal road accident.
Authorities officially closed the case under Article 89 of the Revised Penal Code following the death of the motorcycle rider.
Police explained that the suspect’s death extinguished criminal liability, resulting in the formal closure of the case without further proceedings.
