Rider dies after crashing into trailer truck in Davao City

A 28-year-old motorcycle rider died after he allegedly crashed into the back of a trailer truck along the Davao-Bukidnon National Highway in Sitio Lanitum, Barangay Suawan, Marilog District, Davao City.

The incident happened past 9 p.m. Saturday, May 30, according to a report from the Marilog Police Station.

Authorities identified the victim as Erick, a resident of Sitio Sambunotan, Barangay Malamba, Marilog District.

Police said the trailer truck was driven by Glen, 35, a resident of Kapalong, Davao del Norte.

Based on the initial investigation, the truck, which was carrying bananas from Bukidnon, was parked along the side of the road when the incident happened.

Authorities said the motorcycle allegedly hit the rear portion of the trailer truck while traveling toward the city.

Due to the strong impact of the collision, responding Central 911 personnel declared the rider dead at the scene.

According to Ernesto, the victim’s brother, they had come from a birthday celebration for their late uncle near the area where the accident occurred.

Police have yet to release additional findings as they continue looking into the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.

Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing to determine the complete details surrounding the incident, including the events before the collision along the Davao-Bukidnon National Highway.
