Doctor robbed by riding-in-tandem suspects in Bacolod

A 30-year-old resident doctor of a local hospital was robbed at gunpoint by suspected riding-in-tandem suspects in Barangay 19, Bacolod City, on the night of May 28.

The incident happened around 9 p.m. along Galo Street while the victim was about to enter her boarding house.

Authorities identified the victim only by the alias “Sophia.”

Based on CCTV footage of the incident, the doctor was approaching the gate of her residence when a man suddenly approached her, pointed a gun at her and took her bag.

The victim attempted to fight back and struggled with the suspect during the robbery.

Police said another man, believed to be the suspect’s accomplice, was waiting nearby on a motorcycle and allegedly served as a lookout.

The suspects later escaped from the area, bringing with them the doctor’s cellphone.

In an interview with Brigada News FM Bacolod, Police Maj. Rondyl Tapang, chief of Police Station 1, said investigators have already identified a person of interest in connection with the robbery.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident and are working to identify and locate the individuals involved.

Police are also reviewing available evidence, including the CCTV footage that captured the robbery.

The incident raised concerns over the safety of residents in the area, especially individuals returning home during nighttime hours.
