The digital video recorder (DVR) from the resort where the Ateneo de Manila University student-athletes held their training and team-building activity has already been secured and turned over to authorities.
This was confirmed by Aurora Police Provincial Office spokesperson Police Major Lorena Bautista, who said the DVR came from the resort where the drowning incident involving student-athletes Divine Adili and Rene Baterbonia occurred on June 8.
According to Bautista, the device was turned over to authorities on June 9.
The video footage will be submitted to forensic examiners for extraction and analysis of its contents.
Bautista said it is still too early to determine the value of the footage in the ongoing investigation, as this will depend on the results of the forensic examination.
Meanwhile, Bautista also stressed that based on information provided by lifeguards and responders, there were no weights or heavy objects attached to any part of the athletes’ bodies when they were recovered from the sea.
She added that there were also no indications of foul play and no visible bruises found on the bodies of Rene and Divine.
