Residents of Barangay Palkan in Polomolok, South Cotabato are raising alarm over a severe fly infestation that they believe is linked to a nearby poultry farm.
What many initially welcomed as agro-industrial development has turned into a daily struggle for families, as swarms of flies reportedly invade their homes. Photos shared by residents on social media show flies covering walls, food, and household surfaces.
Several residents said they spent Christmas and welcomed the New Year with their doors and windows closed to keep the flies out, limiting normal family activities during the holidays.
Concern has also spread to Purok Salol, where residents fear the problem could worsen after learning that the same investor has purchased land in their area for a possible poultry farm project.
Residents are now urging the Polomolok local government unit (LGU) to immediately investigate the situation and take action to protect public health and community welfare.
