A Manila lawmaker said he believes it would be better to expel Cavite 4th District Rep. Kiko Barzaga rather than impose another suspension.
Manila 6th District Rep. Benny Abante made the remark when asked about the new 60-day suspension issued against Barzaga. In an interview with Brigada NewsFM Manila, Abante said Barzaga himself had previously asked to be expelled, and that granting the request may be the more appropriate step.
Abante said the expulsion may be necessary if Barzaga continues what he described as ridicule and criticism directed at him. He said that if such actions persist, expulsion would likely be the next move.
According to Abante, Barzaga has indicated he is prepared not to attend plenary sessions regardless of any disciplinary action taken against him. Abante said this position reinforces the possibility that expulsion could be pursued instead of further suspensions.
