15 families displaced after Cebu City fire

At least 15 families lost their homes after a fire struck a residential area in Cebu City on Thursday morning, authorities said.

Thick smoke and flames engulfed houses in Sitio Sagrada, Villagonzallo 1, Barangay Tejero, after the fire broke out around 11 a.m. on Feb. 5.

According to initial reports, the Bureau of Fire Protection received the alarm at 11:52 a.m. The incident escalated to a second alarm as firefighters worked to contain the blaze.

Authorities said the fire was placed under control at about 12:11 p.m. and was fully extinguished at 12:35 p.m.

A total of nine houses were affected by the fire. Seven of the structures were completely destroyed, while the others sustained damage.

The blaze displaced at least 15 families, leaving them without homes. No injuries were immediately reported by authorities in the initial report.

Property damage from the fire was estimated at about 675,000 pesos.

Investigators said they are still determining the cause of the fire. Authorities continue to assess the extent of the damage and assist affected residents.

Local officials and responders remained in the area following the incident as part of the ongoing investigation and response efforts.
