A man allegedly involved in a gun-for-hire syndicate in Aklan was arrested Monday during a police operation in Purok 2, Barangay Navitas, Numancia, Aklan.
The suspect, identified as a person with a disability (PWD) and a resident of the area, was apprehended by the Numancia Municipal Police Station (MPS) and the Provincial Intelligence Unit (PIU).
During the raid, authorities recovered a .357 revolver without a serial number, five rounds of .38-caliber ammunition, 13 .45-caliber bullets, and a grenade.
According to police, the suspect is allegedly connected to the murder of a female bank employee in Kalibo and a businesswoman in Barangay Venturanza, Banga, Aklan, in August. The operation followed extensive monitoring by the PIU-Aklan.
The arrest raises questions about the suspect’s alleged involvement despite his PWD status, with police highlighting his reported role in violent crimes.
The suspect is currently under investigation as authorities build a case against him for illegal possession of firearms, explosives, and his alleged ties to a murder-for-hire group.
