A man was killed, and his wife sustained serious injuries after their motorcycle was struck by a speeding vehicle on the national highway in Barangay Pajo, Northern Cebu, Friday morning.
The fatality, identified as Gilbert Doble Arrabis Sr., was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. His wife, Delita Molejon Arrabis, a barangay councilor of Pajo, was rushed to a medical facility for treatment.
The victims are the parents of former Daanbantayan Vice Mayor and current Councilor Gilbert Arrabis Jr.
The driver of the vehicle, 26-year-old Kyle Valiente, allegedly caused the accident by overspeeding, resulting in the collision. Authorities reported that the couple was en route to the Pajo Barangay Hall when the incident occurred.
Valiente is now facing charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide, serious physical injury, and damage to property.
