PRC urges public to donate blood this holiday season

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has called on the public to donate blood during the holiday season.

In a statement, PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard J. Gordon said that while the agency is not currently facing a blood shortage, continued public participation is crucial to ensure adequate blood reserves during the holidays.

He noted that blood donations usually decline during this period because schools are closed, office-based blood drives are suspended, and many families are traveling or engaged in holiday activities.

Gordon emphasized that emergencies, surgeries, childbirth, and cancer treatments do not take a holiday. He therefore encouraged Filipinos to continue donating blood, especially during this “season of giving.”
