PNP awards ₱10.6M to 30 informants, includes ₱5.3M for murder arrest

The Philippine National Police (PNP) awarded a total of ₱10.6 million in cash rewards to 30 informants on December 9, 2025, recognizing their role in the arrest of wanted individuals across the country.

The ceremony took place at Camp Crame and was led by PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. The largest individual reward of ₱5.3 million went to an informant who provided information leading to the February 2023 arrest of a suspect wanted for seven counts of murder and 25 counts of frustrated murder.

The smallest reward, ₱50,000, was given to an informant who assisted in the arrest of a double-murder suspect in Kalinga in January 2024.

Maj. Gen. Wilson Joseph Lopez, PNP Director for Intelligence, confirmed that the funds came from the PNP’s intelligence fund and were approved by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

“This initiative highlights the crucial role of informants in law enforcement and public safety,” Lopez said, noting that timely tips help authorities apprehend dangerous criminals.

The reward program aims to encourage citizens to provide actionable intelligence that strengthens nationwide crime prevention efforts. PNP officials emphasized transparency in the distribution of rewards and reiterated that contributions from informants are key to ensuring justice and public security.
