A Filipino woman who had been missing for two months in Kuwait was found dead in her employer’s backyard.
Overseas Filipino worker Dafnie Nacalaban was supposed to come home in December 2024 but her plan did not materialize after she went missing for unknown reasons.
Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Eduardo de Vega confirmed that the cadaver of the victim which was already in the advanced state of decomposition was recovered after the sibling of the suspect reported the incident to the authorities.
It is not clear yet who the suspect is but the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) confirmed that the alleged killer had been arrested and detained.
Further information revealed that the suspect had previous criminal record.
Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the victim’s employer claimed she left their home in October, which was also the last time the victim spoke to her family.
Michael Nacalaban Lensahan said her sister promised to come home in December but did not reveal the exact date as she wanted to surprise her family.
Lensahan said they were indeed surprised of her sister’s death and believe the employer wanted to hide the incident from them.
The family wants to know the truth and asks the government to help them seek justice for Dafnie’s death.
Undersecretary de Vega assured the public that the government will do what it can to seek justice for the death of the Filipino worker.
