President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has urged APEC member-economies to prioritize the restoration of the dispute settlement mechanism under the World Trade Organization (WTO).
During the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, President Marcos said the Philippines recognizes that the global economic environment has already changed—making it necessary for economies to become more responsive and dynamic.
He warned that without a functioning dispute settlement system, small economies could be placed at a disadvantage.
The President also encouraged member-economies to support modern trade disciplines that will help improve commerce in the digital era.
Lastly, he assured that the Philippines remains ready to work with all APEC economies and partners toward an open, connected, and future-ready region.
