The Philippine women’s soft tennis team has secured a historic podium finish at the 2026 Asian Games after advancing to the semifinals of the women’s team event in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Princess Catindig, Noelle Manalac, Christy Sanosa, Shyryn Salazar, and Hilary Paas secured their spot in the final four and will face Japan in the semifinals.
The Philippines advanced after defeating Mongolia, 3-0, and Thailand, 2-1, in the group stage.
The team, however, suffered a 3-0 setback against Chinese Taipei, which topped the group.
With their semifinal appearance, the Philippine squad is assured of a podium finish and will look to secure a spot in the finals when they take on Japan.
The breakthrough marks the Philippines’ first Asian Games medal in soft tennis since the sport became part of the continental Games in 1998.
The Philippine team will now look to make history once more by advancing to the gold-medal match.
