PH Embassy in Pretoria advises Filipinos to avoid Ebola-affected areas

The Philippine Embassy in Pretoria has reminded the Filipino community in the Southern Africa region that the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the ongoing Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.

Because of this, the embassy advised Filipinos to avoid non-essential travel to affected areas until the virus is fully contained.

Although there are currently no recorded or suspected Ebola cases in Southern Africa, the embassy emphasized that Zambia faces a higher risk due to its direct borders with the DRC.

Filipinos in Zambia are being encouraged to remain vigilant and closely monitor public health alerts.

The embassy also assured the public that it is ready to provide assistance and support to distressed Filipinos if needed.
