PDEA-7 destroys P284M worth of illegal drugs in Cebu City

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Central Visayas (PDEA-7) destroyed more than P284 million worth of illegal drugs in Cebu City on Thursday, February 13.

Authorities incinerated the confiscated substances, primarily shabu and marijuana, at a funeral home along Junquera Street around 9 a.m. The destroyed drugs were evidence collected from various anti-illegal drug operations across Central Visayas.

According to PDEA-7, the inventory included 41.86 kilograms of shabu and 2.5 kilograms of marijuana. The estimated street value of the seized shabu reached P284,665,902.36, while the marijuana was valued at P300,013.20.

Among the destroyed drugs was P170 million worth of shabu confiscated from a mother and her son at Pier 4 in Cebu City on January 23.

PDEA-7 emphasized that the destruction was conducted to prevent the illegal substances from reentering the market and to maintain transparency in handling seized drugs.

The agency continues its aggressive anti-drug operations in the region, urging the public to report any suspicious activities related to illegal drug trade.
