Palace washes hands on impeachment vs VP Duterte

The Office of the President distances itself from the impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Sara Duterte in the House of Representatives.

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said the impeachment is clearly an initiative of private citizens and the Office of the President has nothing to do with it.

” The impeachment complaint filed in the House of Representatives by several private citizens is clearly the complainants’ independent initiatives, and its endorsement is the prerogative of any member of the House of Representatives. The president has nothing to do with it” Bersamin said.

Bersamin also said that the earlier statement of the president on impeachment is “unambiguous’.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr earlier admitted that he sent message to some lawmakers saying “impeachment is unimportant and will not benefit any single Filipino”.
