Another impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte is in the offing at the House of Representatives.
Makabayan bloc composed of three party-list groups in the House vowed to file the second impeachment complaint against Duterte a day after different advocacy groups filed the first complaint.
Kabataan Partylist Representative Raoul Manuel announced that they intend to file the impeachment complaint against the vice president anytime this week.
Manuel said talks are on- going between them and other peoples’ organizations who would want to take part in their initiative to impeach the vice president.
The lawmaker believes that various sectors in the society should join in the move to impeach the vice president to make the initiative widely represented.
Manuel did not elaborate on the grounds of the second complaints as they are still on the process of finalizing the draft.
On Monday, 17 individuals composed of representatives from civil society organizations, peoples’ organizations, religious organizations, families of victims of Oplan Tokhang and other advocacy groups filed the first impeachment complaint against Duterte.
The grounds include culpable violation of the Constitution, graft and corruption, bribery, betrayal of public trust and other high crimes.
It has 24 articles that covers the alleged misuse of the confidential funds, extra judicial killings during her time as mayor of Davao City, and the death threats against President Ferdinand Marcos among others.
Akbayan Party-list Representative Perci Cendana endorsed the said complaint.
