Palace defends why Marcos’ ‘no merry Christmas’ Pledge vs. Corruption was not fully met

Malacañang pushed back against claims that President Bongbong Marcos failed to fulfill his promise that those involved in corruption—particularly in flood control projects—would have “no merry Christmas.”

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro defended the administration, saying that there have been arrests.

According to Castro, it should be noted that over the past four months, several individuals have been jailed, warrants of arrest have been issued, and some suspects have gone into hiding.

She added that some of those involved have also returned a significant portion of the alleged kickbacks—something she said has only happened under the Marcos administration.

Castro explained that the President is now awaiting resolutions from the Office of the Ombudsman and the Department of Justice regarding other individuals allegedly involved in the corruption.
