The Department of Agriculture (DA) is investing PHP169.4 million this year to accelerate agricultural development in Central Visayas.
The DA-7 Regional Agricultural Engineering Division, led by Edna Yu, said that they will implement 155 projects, including irrigation system installations and the distribution of advanced farm machinery.
The department urges beneficiaries to use and maintain these resources responsibly, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and dedication among farmer groups.
In 2024, DA-7 completed 27 projects worth PHP54.4 million and developed 44 infrastructure projects costing PHP66.7 million.
The agency also distributed 153 units of machinery and equipment valued at PHP92.7 million to support agricultural modernization.
This year’s investment continues the government’s efforts to strengthen agriculture in Central Visayas, the DA said.
The agency added that by empowering farmers with resources and infrastructure, it would differently lead to growth, ensures food security, and supports sustainable farming practices.
