Over 100 E-trikes and e-Bikes apprehended on first day of ban

A total of 114 e-trikes and e-bikes were apprehended for passing through major roads in Metro Manila.

The figure was recorded on the first day of the implementation of the ban on e-trikes and e-bikes, which took effect yesterday.

In an interview with Brigada NewsFM Manila, Land Transportation Office (LTO) Assistant Secretary Markus Lacanilao said that more than 100 riders were immediately flagged along EDSA, South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), C5, and Roxas Boulevard.

According to Lacanilao, most of the apprehended riders chose to pass through major roads because these routes were easier compared to inner roads.

He stressed that the LTO is expected to strictly enforce its regulations.

He also warned riders not to wait for the point when authorities are forced to impound their e-vehicles.

At present, the agency is studying the possible expansion of the ban to Commonwealth Avenue and the Marcos Highway–Sumulong area.
