Nursing student dies after alleged ecstasy intake

A 21-year-old nursing student from a medical school in General Santos City died after allegedly taking the illegal drug ecstasy, authorities said.

The victim’s family suspects that the student’s friend and boyfriend allegedly gave the substance during a meeting before the incident occurred.

According to the victim’s mother, her child attended an on-the-job training in Davao from February seven until February twenty-one.

However, the student failed to complete the training after experiencing seizures, hallucinations, and unusual behavior that alarmed people around her.

On February fifteen, the boyfriend identified as Adrian reportedly brought the student home together with his mother to their residence.

When the student arrived home, she repeatedly said she felt scared and mentioned the word ecstasy while speaking with family members.

The mother also revealed that her child called her from Davao and begged her to come home immediately.

During the phone call, the student reportedly pleaded, “Please come home and get me here, I don’t want to stay here anymore.”

As of now, authorities have not yet confirmed the allegation and investigators continue to gather evidence about the incident.

The family already sought assistance from the National Bureau of Investigation to formally examine the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.

Ecstasy produces intense happiness, boosts energy, and increases talkativeness, but it can severely damage the brain and heart.

Health experts warn that continuous use of ecstasy may lead to addiction, serious illness, and potentially life-threatening complications among users.
