The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) announced that a total of 484 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) were released between October 1 and 27, 2025.
Of the total number, 308 were freed after serving their maximum sentences, 101 were acquitted, 37 were granted parole, 21 were released on probation, and 16 were freed through habeas corpus.
During a culminating ceremony at the New Bilibid Prison, BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. urged the newly released inmates to use the skills they learned while in prison and to avoid negative influences as they reintegrate into society.
BuCor reiterated its goal to release around 10,000 inmates by the end of the year as part of its efforts to decongest prison facilities.
