NBI seeks CCTV footage of Sen. Bato’s arrival at Senate

The National Bureau of Investigation is seeking a copy of the CCTV footage showing the return and arrival of Senator Bato Dela Rosa at the Senate of the Philippines on Monday after being absent from public view for six months.

Although Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano admitted that dela Rosa used his vehicle to reach the Senate, NBI Director Melvin Matibag maintained that it would still be better for authorities to obtain the CCTV footage as part of the investigation.

During a press briefing, Matibag said the video currently circulating on social media only shows the moment Senator dela Rosa was already running.

According to him, the NBI wants to determine and review what happened before the chase scene.

The director stressed that this portion of the CCTV footage would provide the public with a clearer picture of what truly transpired before the viral video of dela Rosa running spread online.

Meanwhile, Matibag also said that the NBI and the Philippine National Police will look into whether the reported shooting incident at the Senate was merely “staged.”

He said the matter is now part of their ongoing investigation.
