Motorist shot dead in late-night shooting in Davao City

A 36-year-old motorist died after he was shot along Muslim Village in Bacaca, Barangay 19-B, Davao City past 1 a.m. on December 6. The Davao City Police Office identified the victim as Zairon Balik, a resident of Barangay 23-C.

Police said Balik was still on board his motorcycle when he was attacked along Manggahan Street, a dim part of the area. The suspect, who remains unidentified, allegedly fired at him without warning. Responders found Balik wounded and bleeding on the road. They rushed him to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for treatment, but doctors declared him dead shortly after arrival.

Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered several spent shells believed to be from a .45 caliber pistol.

Investigators have yet to confirm whether the attack was targeted or driven by another circumstance. Police said they are working to trace leads and urged anyone with information to report to authorities.
